2.     A combination of qualities that pleases the intellect or moral sense.

Totally random google searches led to totally random thoughts this morning:

Is beauty overrated?  By definition and in lieu of the fact that every individual’s intellect and moral senses most likely differ and/ or are regarded as separate and apart from an individuals sense of aesthetics; does beauty even exists?  Or do we just fool ourselves into believing so?

Technically, I can reel off a never-ending list of qualities which I consider pleasing to look at; and no other person on this planet might agree.  So does that then invalidate my notion of what is pleasing (ie. what is beautiful)?  And if does, is that to say that beauty is more accurately defined as 'a generalized combination of qualities...?  ***

If beauty is real, what value is there in subjecting any person, place or thing to beauty when by definition, any person, place or thing has the potential of being either beautiful or not at all beautiful? And speaking of the ‘not beautiful,’ what value is taken away with beauty? –Makes sense?  What value does beauty add, and what value does the lack of beauty remove?  ***

Is the appeal of "beauty" rooted into the animality of man?  And if so, how does it factor into our intellect or morality?  Speaking of morality, is beauty considered a virtue or would the ability to see beauty where others may fail to, more so be considered a virtue?  ***  Is the concept of "beauty" one of those things in the universe that--without cause and without explanation--simply is?

Just a thought...
